Harvey Performance Company Partners With Workshops for Warriors

May 2, 2019 (Rowley, MA) – Harvey Performance Company is proud to announce a new partnership with Workshops for Warriors®, a nonprofit school that provides training, education, and opportunities to earn third party nationally recognized credentials to enable veterans and transitioning service members to be trained and placed in their chosen advanced manufacturing career field.

Workshops for Warriors was founded in 2008 by CEO Hernán Luis y Prado (a retired U.S. Navy Hospital Corpsman and Surface Warfare Officer) based on two pressing needs. “One of those needs is the lack of advanced manufacturing talent in the U.S.,” said Hernán. “The other is that some veterans and wounded warriors aren’t able to integrate successfully into civilian life again. Workshops for Warriors trains them, certifies them to nationally recognized standards, and places them into advanced manufacturing careers.”

Harvey Performance Company has pledged to supply the Workshops for Warriors Machining School with tooling to outfit all of their CNC machines for the rest of 2019 and all of 2020. For the first time in the program’s history, the Workshops for Warriors machine shop will be outfitted with fully equipped tool sets at each machine. All three Harvey Performance Company brands will be represented, with Harvey Tool and Helical Solutions supplying high performance end mills, drills, and specialty cutting tools, and Micro 100 supplying turning tools, boring bars, and indexable milling tools.

Since its humble beginnings in Hernán’s garage, training one veteran at a time, Workshops for Warriors has now grown into one of the nation’s top advanced manufacturing training facilities. To date, nearly 600 veterans have graduated from the program,of which 94% have been placed in a manufacturing career.

“Workshops for Warriors has been doing incredible work tackling two major challenges: job training and career development for our country’s veterans, and the U.S. market demand for skilled workers trained in advanced manufacturing,” said Jeff Rauseo, Senior Marketing Specialist – Strategic Partnerships & Applications, Harvey Performance Company. “The services they offer are unparalleled, and Harvey Performance Company is proud to supply their programs with our tooling and technical support to give these students the best possible training experience.”

“Harvey Performance’s support of Workshops for Warriors has had a direct impact on veterans education in manufacturing by providing standardized carbide tooling,” said Scott Leoncini, Machining Instructor, Workshops for Warriors. “As we move forward to train veterans in the most advanced manufacturing practices relevant to today’s manufacturing industry, it is critical that we have the best tooling and Harvey Performance has provided that.”
