Users can access the complete range of square, corner radius, ball, and tapered end mills directly within NX CAM, ensuring easy programming with Helical’s full assortment of high performance tools.

Accessing Helical Tool Libraries in Siemens NX CAM
If you need additional support with your Helical libraries, think you may have found some dimensional data that needs correcting, or have feedback you want to share with our team, you can get in touch with us by sending an email to [email protected].
To ensure the best possible machining results, we have decided not to prepopulate speeds and feeds information into our tool libraries. Instead, we encourage machinists to access the speeds and feeds resources that we offer to dial accurate running parameters based on their material, application, and machine capabilities.
Helical Solutions Speeds & Feeds
To access speeds and feeds information for your Helical Solutions end mills, we recommend using our Machining Advisor Pro application. Machining Advisor Pro (MAP) generates specialized machining parameters by pairing the unique geometries of your Helical Solutions end mill with your exact tool path, material, and machine setup. MAP is available free of charge as a web-based desktop app, or as a downloadable application on the App Store for iOS and Google Play.

Once you have downloaded your new NX tool libraries, selecting a specific tool or group of tools can be done by switching to the manufacturing view. This can be done by selecting the “application” tab and finding the manufacturing button. Alternatively, use the shortcut ctrl+alt+m.
Then, in the home tab, select “create tool” to open the create tool menu. Select the retrieve tools from library option (to import tools, see the downloading a tool library section below). Here, you can select the type of tool to download, and search based on tool name or geometrical factors. For specific Helical tools, you can always search by the sku number in the “Libref” or “Description” field. To get all helical tools, you can search “Helical” in the “Libref” or “Description” field. Note that this is case sensitive, so searching “helical” will yield zero results while “Helical” will return Helical tools.
Finally, select a tool (or multiple by holding ctrl) and hit OK to retrieve tools.
Installing Library
Go to one of our brand websites, find the resources tab and navigate to the CAM Parters page. Select NX from the list of partners, then choose which brand’s library to download under the download ribbon. Locate the location where the file has downloaded. It should end in “.dat”.
In NX, switch to the manufacturing view by going to the “Application” tab and find the “Manufacturing” button. Or use the shortcut “ctrl+alt+M”.
Open the dropdown that says “menu” > “tools” > “Convert tool library” Then, select the .dat file you downloaded. This will add the library you downloaded to the available tools to search from in NX.
